2AD Indramat Motor

Indramat 2AD motors, now considered legacy products, are no longer being manufactured, making it challenging to find new units. These motors are built with an asynchronous housing that must conform to specific operational conditions set by the manufacturer.

Each motor comes equipped with a rating plate that lists crucial information such as the type designation, maximum input voltage, vibration severity grade, insulation system, rated speed, and more. This information aids in the straightforward identification of the motor. Protective covers are attached to the plug connections and output shafts of these motors, which should only be removed right before installation. You can find 2AD motors with options for a holding brake and either plain or keyway shafts.

It is essential to use a fan with 2AD motors for them to operate correctly, and they can be mounted either horizontally or vertically. If the output shaft is installed facing upwards, extra care is required to prevent any liquid buildup around the shaft. For storage and transit, it's advisable to keep the motors in a horizontal orientation.

Like other Indramat products, 2AD motors are designed for durability, with many units that were installed decades ago still in use today. Often, repairing these motors is more cost-effective than replacing them.

Key Specifications of 2AD Motors

- They offer a degree of protection of IP 65 according to DIN EN 60034-5 standards.

- Balancing options include full key or half key.

- Suitable installation altitude is 0 to 1000 meters.

- Insulation is classified as class 155 per DIN EN 60034-1 standards.

- The sound pressure level does not exceed 75 dBA.

- The shaft end is cylindrical in shape.

- Bearing type used is permanently greased ball bearings designed for a 20,000-hour operational life.

- Electrical connections include power (via flange socket or terminal box) and encoder (flange socket).

- These motors are UL Listed and CSA Certified.

FAQs

What is the surface temperature of the 2AD motor during operation?

When operating, the surface of 2AD asynchronous Indramat motors can reach high temperatures, often exceeding 70°C. It is crucial to allow the motor to cool down properly before handling to avoid the risk of burns.

Can 2AD motors be used in areas with explosion hazards?

2AD Indramat motors are not designed for explosive or hazardous environments unless specifically certified for such conditions. Additionally, they should not be connected directly to a three-phase network.
