Indramat ceased production of its motion control products roughly twenty years ago, and today, these products are referred to as legacy items. Known for their high performance, longevity, and robustness, Indramat's offerings, including the DKR drive controllers, are notably reliable. These controllers, however, are not suitable for use underwater or in environments with extreme temperature fluctuations.

A DKR drive controller functions to manage and monitor the operation of an electric motor and various other components like sensors and actuators within a motion control system. During startup, the controller must be precisely parameterized to ensure the motor executes the functions specific to its application. DKR controllers come with different interfaces and power ratings to match particular applications and are designed to be used exclusively with components, cables, and accessories provided by Indramat.

DKR drive controllers are compatible with Indramat's 1MB frameless motors, 2AD spindle motors, and LSF or LAF linear motors. They offer output power ranging from 10kW to 93kW and can manage motor resolutions down to 1/4,000,000 of a revolution. Additionally, they feature an internal positioning loop control facilitated by motor feedback.

DKR Drive Controller Applications

DKR drive controllers are crafted for applications requiring high stiffness and power, making them ideal for:

- Numerically controlled machine tools

- Printing machines

FAQs

Why is it preferable to repair DKR drive controllers rather than replacing them?

Given their legacy status, replacing DKR drive controllers is problematic as new units are unavailable, leaving only refurbished options. Original DKR controllers rarely fail completely, thanks to their durable design and extended operational lifespan. Opting for repairs can further prolong the life of your equipment and optimize the performance of your motion control system. It is crucial to switch off the power to the control cabinet where the drive controller is installed before any repair or replacement is conducted.

What are the recommended ambient conditions for using the DKR drive controller?

The DKR drive controller should be operated within an ambient temperature range of 5 °C to 45 °C and is not designed to function in temperatures exceeding 55 °C. It should be installed at an altitude not exceeding 1000 meters above sea level, with a maximum allowable altitude of 5000 meters. Operating beyond these specified conditions can lead to reduced output and potential damage to the controller.
