PPC Controllers
PPC Controllers are CNC control modules designed as ISA-bus plug-in cards for use in industrial PC-based machine control systems. The PPC series communicates with digital drives through SERCOS fiber-optic networking. In its base configuration, one controller can manage up to 8 drives on a single SERCOS ring. System capacity can be expanded with as many as three passive PC/104 axis processor modules, allowing control of up to 32 drives across four SERCOS rings with axes assigned to different NC processes as needed. Firmware is stored on a separate PC-card-compatible PSM01.1 module and supports hardware startup, initialization, program execution, tool management, and machine or NC data handling. PLC communication is handled through the Bosch Rexroth local bus using compatible PLC modules such as the MTS-P01.2 or MTS-P02.2, connected through a dedicated ribbon-cable interface. Hardware features include a PowerPC processor, SDRAM memory, a real-time clock and diagnostic display, and a lithium battery used to retain RTC data and battery-backed SRAM when power is removed.
