R-IL PROFIBUS Bus Couplers

R-IL PROFIBUS Bus Couplers are Inline station head modules used to connect Rexroth Inline I/O terminals to a PROFIBUS-DP network. The coupler acts as the interface between a PROFIBUS master and the distributed Inline station, with some versions also supporting Fieldline Modular M8 modules. Communication is handled through an RS-485 PROFIBUS interface using a 9-pin D-SUB connector, with automatic baud-rate detection from 9.6 kbps to 12 Mbps. The PROFIBUS station address is set locally through rotary switches. A single station can support up to 63 local bus devices, and selected variants allow up to 61 additional Inline terminals in addition to the coupler’s integrated I/O. DP/V1-capable versions support acyclic communication services for Class 1 and Class 2 masters, along with functions such as terminal parameterization, failsafe value handling, and selectable diagnostic formats based on the operating mode. The coupler operates from a 24 VDC supply and generates the internal communication and analog supplies needed by the station. Mixed-function versions may also include built-in 24 V digital inputs and outputs, such as 8 DI and 4 DO, directly at the station head.
