XFE01.1-FB-01

The XFE01.1-FB-01 is a plug-in expansion manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the XM21 IndraControl Systems series. Installed on the controller’s backplane, it provides fieldbus connectivity so a central PLC can exchange cyclic and acyclic data with drives, sensors, and visualization terminals. By adding this module, machine builders link servo axes, safety devices, and process peripherals into a single deterministic network that supports synchronized motion and precise time stamping.

The communication layer of the module operates as a Sercos III Master, allowing 100 Mbit/s real-time Ethernet telegrams to be issued directly by the CPU. Protection against accidental contact is limited to the IP20 enclosure rating, so the unit must be mounted inside a closed cabinet. For intrinsic safety the board carries an onboard 4 A resettable protective fuse and maintains channel isolation between connectors XF3 and XF4 up to 1200 V DC (1 min). During normal operation it draws a maximum of 4.8 W from the system power bus, a value that helps keep the overall thermal load of a compact controller low. The card snaps onto a TH 35-7.5 rail with no additional brackets.

Electrical supply for the XFE01.1-FB-01 is taken from the backplane at 24 V DC (PELV/SELV), and the board limits steady demand to 0.2 A, permitting several extensions to share the same supply segment. A diode provides reverse-polarity protection so misconnections do not damage the circuitry, and functionality is maintained through line interruptions up to 10 ms, ensuring telegrams resume without reinitialization. Mechanical resilience is rated for shocks of 30 g (11 ms), allowing cabinet installation on mobile or high-impact machines. The assembly weighs 0.120 kg, contributing negligibly to rail loading.
