Bosch Rexroth Indramat builds the XFE01.1-FB-10 fieldbus extension for the XM21 IndraControl Systems series. The module mounts beside the base controller and acts as a Profibus Master, allowing the control platform to coordinate distributed I/O stations or drives over a single field network. By adding this board, system designers can integrate PROFIBUS segments without replacing the main CPU, keeping the automation task within one hardware family.
Electrical parameters are aligned with typical cabinet supplies. The module operates from a nominal 24 V DC source delivered through the 4-Pin XD1 plug. An internal fuse rated at 4 A limits fault energy before upstream protection interrupts the circuit. Under normal conditions the board draws 0.2 A, yielding a maximum consumption of 4.8 W and minimizing heat inside the enclosure. The housing carries an IP20 rating, so it must be installed inside a closed panel. Pin A1 and A2 of the XD1 terminal carry +24 V while pins B1 and B2 provide the common ground return, simplifying redundant feed wiring.
Network connectivity is provided by a PROFIBUS DP interface that emerges on a 9-Pin D-Sub Socket. The module supervises the bus as the master node and handles token passing, diagnostic telegrams, and baud-rate selection without additional gateways. Reverse wiring of the supply cannot damage the electronics because a Diode blocks current flow when polarity is swapped, and suppressor diodes clamp surges that may ride on the line. During brief brownouts the circuit maintains logic power for 10 ms, ensuring message transactions are not interrupted while higher-level supplies recover.
