XFE01.1-FB-11

The XFE01.1-FB-11 is a fieldbus expansion module produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for controllers in the XM21 IndraControl Systems series. Installed on the system rail beside the CPU, it forms an interface that extends the controller’s communication capability to decentralized devices on the machine floor. By inserting this module, machine builders can incorporate cyclic data exchange with drives, remote I/O, and sensors without replacing the main control unit, thereby maintaining a compact architecture inside the automation cabinet.

The module is supplied with a nominal input of 24 VDC (PELV/SELV), which aligns with the low-voltage distribution used inside most control cabinets. Under full activity it draws only 0.2 A, so the added load on the shared power supply is minimal. Data transfer is handled through the PROFIBUS DP protocol, giving the controller 12 Mbps deterministic communication to compatible slaves. An internal blade fuse rated at 4 A isolates the board from upstream faults and simplifies service replacement. During brief supply interruptions it can maintain operation for up to 10 ms, preventing controller faults when the plant experiences momentary voltage dips.

The electrical figures are supported by enclosure and wiring details. The housing carries a IP20 rating, indicating finger-safe openings and suitability for closed cabinets without direct liquid exposure. Peak dissipation is limited to 4.8 W, so convection inside the rack is usually sufficient for heat removal. Power enters through an XD1 4-pin connector that accepts conductors down to 1.5 mm² (AWG 16), while bus traffic is cabled on a D-Sub 9-pin female socket. The 0.3-inch wide board weighs just 0.18 kg, allowing simple DIN-rail clipping next to the CPU. A series diode on the input prevents reverse polarity, guarding components if wiring is swapped.
