Bosch Rexroth Indramat supplies the FWA-ECODR3-SMT-02V45-MS firmware package for controllers in the DKC Drive Controllers series. This software component resides inside the drive and converts field-level directives into time-critical current and position loops, letting the motion system execute repeatable servo or stepper moves across assembly lines, pick-and-place tables, and packaging machines. By separating power electronics from application logic, the firmware allows a plant technician to load new features, adjust axis parameters, and maintain system behavior without changing the mounted drive hardware.

The firmware tracks mechanical position with an absolute encoder resolution of 1 rev/4096 rev, giving the drive enough range for homing-free restarts. It executes the core operating set of Torque; Velocity; Position control and extends capability through the Jogging, Positioning Block, and Stepper auxiliary modes. Motion profiles can be generated by the controller or produced internally using Internal; Relative Internal interpolation routines. Field commands arrive through the SERCOS, parallel, or analog channels and are decoded by the master control word S-0-0134, whose bit 15 must be set before power devices are energized. Parameter P-0-4026 selects a positioning block, while P-0-4051 returns its acknowledgement, and group S-0-0032…S-0-0035 determines which mode is active.

Feedback flexibility is provided by the measuring systems HSF/LSF or a resolver, while the option slot accepts Heidenhain EnDat rotary or linear readers for high-precision machines. Users can perform commissioning over RS232, or switch to RS485, ASCII, or SIS serial protocols when longer or multi-drop links are required. The setup flag S-0-0346 (bit 0) indicates whether initial parameterization is complete, and the firmware times each stepper pulse with a period of 5.6 µs to maintain deterministic indexing. Together these resources allow jogging or multi-block sequences to execute without additional motion cards.
