HLC Capacitor Modules

The HLC Capacitor Module series is used to add DC-bus energy storage to Bosch Rexroth drive systems with frequent acceleration and braking cycles. These modules connect directly to the DC bus and temporarily store regenerated energy during deceleration. By holding this energy in the bus instead of sending more of it to the braking resistor, the system can reduce heat buildup inside the control cabinet. HLC modules are commonly suited for cyclic applications such as roll feeds and cross-cutting machines, where rapid motion changes occur repeatedly. During a mains failure, the stored energy can also help support a controlled retraction movement, which can protect tooling and workpieces in applications such as gear cutting. The series includes 1, 2.4, and 5 capacity variants, with model-dependent power dissipation ratings of 12, 24, and 13. Mechanical size changes by version, with smaller units using a 50 mm-wide housing and the larger-capacity version using a 75 mm-wide housing with greater height, depth, and weight.
