This free-standing brake resistor is engineered for high-power braking, converting up to 33 kW of kinetic energy into heat and handling an energy consumption of 1080 kWs per cycle. With a compact footprint of 600 x 270 x 490 mm and a total mass of 22 kg, it integrates seamlessly into cabinet installations. The unit’s rugged IP20 housing ensures protection against solid contaminants while maintaining accessible service points.



Equipped for continuous operation, the resistor delivers a braking power duration of 10 kW over a cycle time of 120 s and sustains a peak duty cycle of 32 s on-time at 700 V DC. A precision-wound element provides a stable 20.2 Ω resistance, optimizing energy dissipation under heavy regenerative loads. Natural convection cooling maintains the device temperature within limits across an ambient range of 0 … 40 °C, with no moving parts to service. Installation clearances require 1000 mm above and 300 mm below the unit, and connections accommodate 8 AWG copper conductors at up to 90 °C, even at altitudes up to 1000 m above sea level.
