The HLR01.2N-01K0-N68R0-E-007-NNNN brake resistor is produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat as part of the HLR Brake Resistors series. It serves as a passive component placed across the drive’s DC link, where it converts excess regenerative energy into heat so that servo and spindle axes can decelerate quickly without triggering overvoltage trips.
The resistor presents a continuous dissipation capability of 1.00 kW, which defines the heat it can release indefinitely without exceeding its steady-state temperature limit. During abrupt stops it withstands a peak load of 8.96 kW, enabling the drive to absorb short energy surges safely. Its nominal resistance of 68.00 Ohm sets the braking current for a given DC bus voltage and therefore establishes the initial torque profile. Up to 10.00 kWs of regenerative energy can be accepted in a single event, while the permitted on-time of 1.11 s restricts how long that high load may be applied. Together these electrical ratings ensure thermal balance and prevent the wire-wound element from reaching critical temperature during repetitive duty. The area around the brake resister installation should be free of debris and loose material to ensure proper safety precautions during operation and installation. This is true during preventative maintenance inspections, as well.
Cooling is by ambient airflow, noted as Natural convection. At 3.96 kg, the housing is light enough for cabinet mounting yet has sufficient thermal mass to damp temperature rise between cycles.
