KDA 2.1-150-3-DYS-U1

The KDA 2.1-150-3-DYS-U1 is a spindle drive module produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat as part of the KDA Spindle Drives series. It converts regulated DC bus power into controlled three-phase output for high-speed spindle motors, allowing coordinated speed control on machining centers and similar equipment. Installed inside an automation cabinet, it pairs with CNC controllers and feedback devices, delivering closed-loop spindle regulation that supports precision cutting, drilling, and grinding tasks.

This unit draws its intermediate circuit power from a 300 VDC link, and the current stage is dimensioned for a continuous output of 150 A, giving it the capability to energize large high-frequency spindles without saturation. Speed references arrive as a digital 16-bit parallel word, so the control system can program 65,536 discrete speed points rather than relying on analog resolution. Thermal management is handled by a mounted heatsink that is force-ventilated by a blower supplied from 115 V/50-60 Hz mains; the forced airflow keeps semiconductor temperatures within limits during prolonged high-load cycles. Together these parameters define the electrical and thermal envelope in which the drive maintains stable torque production and rapid speed response.

For integration, a serial interface (RS 232 C) is provided for parameter upload and diagnostics, and a second encoder input with a synchronous channel allows direct feedback from the spindle and a position reference device. Installation can occur at elevations up to 1000 m above sea level and in ambient temperatures from 5 to 45 °C, matching typical shop-floor environments. The drive belongs to hardware Series 2, uses a mounted heatsink blower as its cooling element, and relies on forced airflow to fulfill these environmental ratings without derating.
