The Bosch Rexroth Indramat KDA 3.1-100-3-DY0-U1 is a spindle drive module released in the KDA Spindle Drives series and manufactured for CNC and general machining centers. It conditions energy from a shared DC bus, regulates spindle torque, and exchanges position data with higher-level controllers, giving automated systems precise speed control during drilling, milling, or grinding cycles.

An internal heatsink blower powered from 115V/50-60Hz maintains component temperatures, and that blower is physically integrated as a Mounted Heatsink Blower. The power electronics operate from a shared link voltage of 300 VDC, while the output stage can deliver a continuous spindle current of 100 A. Speed reference data is accepted through a parallel bus encoded as Digital (16 bit parallel), so numerical setpoints can be transferred without D/A conversion errors. Version 3 hardware retains the series’ forced-air design and includes no additional interface option, which simplifies cabinet wiring and aligns with applications that only require fieldbus communication through the main control rack.

The drive’s thermal envelope spans 5 to 45 Degrees Celsius, and its cooling system is classified as Forced Cooling, allowing full rated current without external chillers when ambient air is available. Reliable operation is specified up to 1000M above sea level; beyond that elevation derating is necessary because of reduced air density around the blower. Feedback integrity is enhanced by a dedicated channel that supports a second encoder input and synchronous input, letting the controller reconcile spindle position with a secondary measuring transducer when required. Because no optional interface card is fitted, cabinet planners can reserve slot space for I/O or safety relays instead of auxiliary communications.
