KSM Motor Integrated Servo Drives

The drive accepts a nominal bus feed of DC 750 V, allowing direct connection to a shared DC link. Power, feedback, and communication lines are routed through a single Hybrid Connector, minimizing cable runs. Heat is removed through natural convection, so no fans are required when the unit is mounted in sealed cabinets. Position data comes from a Hiperface optical encoder that delivers 128 signal periods per mechanical turn, giving enough resolution for medium-precision positioning. The integrated motor follows size 071 with length code C, is classified at the basic performance level, and uses the standard design option, making it suitable for axes that do not need extended overload capability.
Control commands and status data travel over SERCOS 2 (RS422), enabling deterministic motion sequencing alongside other networked drives. Absolute feedback is limited to one revolution because the encoder is a single-turn type; multi-turn position tracking must be handled externally. Output torque is delivered through a plain shaft, and an internal shaft seal is present to protect against fluid ingress. The motor ships without a holding brake, so vertical axes require external locking devices. Hardware version 2 is used, series number 1 identifies the platform generation, and no additional safety technology is activated at the factory.
