Position feedback is captured by an optical encoder that resolves 128 signal periods per revolution, and signals are transmitted over the Hiperface interface for closed-loop speed and position control.
Control data move over the on-board Multi-Ethernet port, letting the axis join EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, or EtherCAT networks without additional hardware. Functional safety is built in through Safe Torque Off (STO), which removes drive energy to the motor windings when an emergency stop is demanded. The shaft is a shaft with keyway, protected by an integral seal to keep contaminants away from the bearings, yet the unit ships without a holding brake for applications that rely on mechanical locking elsewhere. Delivered in the Basic performance level with winding code 35, standard design option, and design version 1, it supports series 2 firmware and retains multi-turn absolute position even after power loss.
