RECO02-BUS
RECO Drive Modules
The RECO02-BUS module coupler is produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the RECO Drive Modules series. It allows a group of RECO I/O or power modules to appear on a SERCOS motion bus as a single addressable station, giving a drive controller direct access to distributed signals over fiber-optic connections. The base rack accepts the coupler in the far-left position, while downstream slots hold signal or power electronics that share an auxiliary supply and data backplane. This arrangement simplifies wiring inside machine cabinets and makes faults easier to isolate during system setup.
The coupler is energized by a 24 VDC logic rail supplied through a terminal block that accepts field conductors up to 2.5 mm². Its internal regulators draw an average electronics supply current of 2.5 A, and the rack header supports a peak load of 0.8 A from the attached modules. Short-circuit protection trips at 3.0 A to prevent circuit-trace damage before the upstream fuses clear. The IP20 housing provides protection against accidental contact with internal components but does not protect against water ingress. The unit must therefore be installed in a closed cabinet with adequate airflow. The supply cable cross-section, thermal limits, and overcurrent cutoff establish the electrical operating range for racks containing both digital and analog modules.
The base rack holds 4 modules, while the internal backplane reserves power and data lines for up to 16 logical positions, including the coupler position. Expansion racks can use the remaining logical positions for additional I/O slices. The rack measures 182 × 217 × 56 mm, while the plug-in coupler measures 41.3 × 192 × 81 mm, allowing a compact arrangement on a DIN rail. SERCOS telegrams pass through the integrated transceiver, and the SERCOS interface allows each station to use an address from 1 to 99. A single optical ring can contain up to 254 devices without repeaters. Each segment supports a maximum of 15 I/O modules and exchanges data through deterministic cyclic communication.
