RECO12-IBK1

The RECO12-IBK1 is a communication coupler produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the RECO Drive Modules series. It acts as the head of a modular I/O station, translating fieldbus data to the internal RECO backplane so controller commands reach each attached module. Designed for decentralized automation, the unit fastens to a TS 35 × 27 × 15 DIN rail and forms a compact node that eliminates large terminal strips. By concentrating wiring in a single enclosure, it simplifies maintenance and keeps cabinet layouts orderly in conveyor lines, packaging machines, and material-handling cells.

The module draws its logic power from a 24 VDC supply and remains functional with a voltage tolerance of ±20%, allowing operation on common industrial power networks. Maximum current consumption is limited to 0.8 A, so a midrange 24 V supply can feed the station without oversizing. The control voltage may contain up to 4.0 V peak-to-peak of ripple before data integrity is affected. A dedicated alarm output can sink or source up to 100 mA, providing a local fault signal for tower lights or buzzers. Internal electronic protection limits short-circuit current to 2.5 A. Field wiring connects to spring terminals sized for 2.5 mm² conductors, matching standard sensor cables. The enclosure has an IP20 rating, indicating that live parts are protected against finger contact when the carrier is installed inside a suitable cabinet.

An INTERBUS interface connects the coupler to the control network, and the backplane supports up to 15 additional I/O modules, allowing mixed signal types to share one bus address. Sixteen physical slots are available, leaving one slot for the coupler while accommodating the supported expansion modules. Segment cabling may extend up to 400 m between stations, and the ring topology can reach 12.8 km before a repeater is needed. The unit can operate at elevations up to 1,500 m. When it is not energized, it can be stored at elevations up to 3,500 m.
