With DSF+MTG, the drive retains absolute position across power cycles (up to 4096 turns), minimizing re-homing. Relative DSF requires homing after power loss; absolute encoders may include battery monitoring in the drive.

Use clamping sets/pressure sleeves for backlash-free, non-positive torque transmission preferred by Rexroth for MDD shafts. This avoids keyway play and preserves dynamic precision.

Choose a variant with a blocking brake or add an external load-holding device for fail-safe stops. Note that Rexroth specifies the holding brake is not a working brake and will wear if used dynamically.

MDD housings are typically prime-coated (black RAL 9005) for chemical/weather resistance, but high-pressure steam cleaning can damage the finish. Ensure IP65 sealing (including shaft seal) for splash zones and avoid aggressive washdowns.
