KVR Power Supply Modules

Bosch Rexroth Indramat KVR Power Supply Modules are regenerative supply units used in modular Indramat AC drive systems to feed multiple servo and main drive modules through a shared DC link. The KVR series connects directly to a 3-phase 380–480 VAC, 50/60 Hz mains supply and converts that input into the regulated DC-link voltage required by the connected drive power stages. In addition to the DC bus, the module supplies the system’s signal and control voltages through the signal-voltage bus. During motor braking, regenerated energy can be returned to the mains when the line conditions allow it. If the mains is unavailable or cannot absorb the returned energy, the internal bleeder and braking circuit dissipates the excess energy instead. The module also includes an integrated mains contactor for isolating power, a DC-link short-circuit function for controlled braking of synchronous drives under defined fault conditions, and monitoring functions for supply status and diagnostics. For cabinet design, KVR units are selected around continuous power demand, short-term overload requirements, and the use of specified line components such as mains chokes and additional DC-link capacitance.
