PST Thyristor Power Units
The PST610-EW is a power control module from Bosch Rexroth Indramat, supplied as part of the PST Thyristor Power Units series. It functions as a two-phase silicon-controlled rectifier assembly that gates heavy mains currents into industrial loads, giving production machinery a stable yet adjustable source of AC power. Installed between the plant transformer and the application, it modulates current according to commands from a supervisory controller, permitting precise energy management in welding, heating, or magnetizing processes common on automated lines.
The power section uses a 2-Phase Thyristor topology, giving symmetrical firing control for both supply phases. Continuous duty is supported up to 130 Arms, while a 20 % duty cycle allows a peak primary output of 300 A. A dedicated transformer channel is rated at 95 kVA, aligning conductor cross-sections with thermal limits. Cabinet mounting is aided by the IP20 protection grade that prevents accidental finger contact. A 2.2 kΩ field discharge resistor removes residual flux when power is lost, the solenoid driver delivers 1 A for external contactors, and the auxiliary I/O feed consumes only 0.5 VA, minimizing load on the control bus.
Sixteen discrete inputs accept control signals at 3 mA each, and twelve discrete outputs return status to the host. The logic plane is supplied with 24 VDC and can draw up to 4 A during gating and diagnostic cycles. An auxiliary channel sources 0.1 A for sensors, and overvoltage events are limited by a MOV network that shunts line transients away from the thyristors. Heat generated during commutation is removed through a water-cooled heat sink, allowing continuous service without derating. The design therefore unifies high-current switching, protected control electronics, and modest field wiring demands in a single assembly.
