The DSC 3.1-50-220V is a servo amplifier produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the DSC Servo Amplifiers series. It forms the power stage between a 220 V supply and a drive controller, shaping stator currents so industrial motors follow velocity or position commands. Integrated current feedback, bus supervision, and thermal sensing provide operating supervision for CNC, printing, and material-handling axes. The module also dissipates regenerated energy through an internal bleeder and reports diagnostic data to upstream control electronics.

The rated DC bus input is 300 VDC ±15%, allowing the amplifier to tolerate supply variations while maintaining field-oriented control accuracy. Under continuous duty, it delivers a nominal phase current of 50 A, providing medium-frame servomotors with stable torque. During short acceleration periods, the stage can reach a peak output of 15 kW before current limiting is activated. Motor current is sampled through a sense resistor with an Imess scale factor of 150 mV/A, enabling the control loop to convert voltage feedback into real-time current values. The device draws 180 VA from the control power supply and releases up to 360 W as heat through a finned heat sink. If the internal temperature exceeds the set point, the amplifier waits 30 seconds before initiating a shutdown.

The chopper circuit activates at a bus voltage of 425 VDC and resets at 400 VDC, diverting excess energy into a resistor. This resistor handles an average power of 500 W and withstands surges of up to 20 kW. Thermal derating begins if the heat sink reaches 85 °C or the ambient temperature exceeds 55 °C, helping protect internal components. The amplifier can be installed at elevations of up to 1000 m above sea level. Its 26 kg mass requires adequate support from the cabinet mounting structure. The bleeder network controls regenerated bus energy to prevent an overvoltage condition.
