The CML40.1-NP-220-NA-NNNN-NW Control Main Unit is produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the CML IndraControl Hardware series. This hardware platform provides the main computational resource for mid-range machine controllers, combining PLC logic and basic visualization in a single device. By executing user programs locally, it supervises distributed drives, safety modules, and operator terminals in automated assembly lines, packaging systems, and material-handling stations.
The controller is built around a National Geode SC1200 processor that operates at 266 MHz, giving it adequate cycle time for deterministic control loops and communication tasks. Program and data storage share a base DRAM pool of 32 MB, which is soldered on the board to resist vibration. An Inline housing lets the unit mount directly beside I/O terminals without additional rack hardware, minimizing cabinet depth. Field devices are linked through an integrated PROFIBUS interface so cyclic status words and parameter blocks move across the plant network using standardized telegrams.
Persistent machine variables are secured in 64 kB of NvRAM, maintaining recipe information through power cycles. Thermal management is simplified because the module is specified without a fan; the passive design reduces maintenance and allows vertical cabinet mounting where airflow is limited. Its CPU design follows variant 1, indicating the first implementation step for the series 40 platform.
