The DMA 140D 4101-D is a three-phase servo drive module produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat as part of the DMA Servo Drive Modules series. Designed for cabinet installation, the unit conditions a shared DC bus and generates modulated phase currents for synchronous or asynchronous motors. By integrating current loops and trajectory control logic, the device supports coordinated motion and handles the feedback tasks required in automated assembly cells, gantry systems, and conveyor zones. Its architecture also accommodates a direct connection to higher-level PLC networks.

During operation the module draws a 24-volt control supply of 1.58 A that powers its logic circuits and gate drivers. Phase energy is delivered through the IGBT bridge, and at an 8 kHz current loop frequency the continuous output capacity reaches 60 Arms, allowing medium-frame drives to accelerate quickly without saturation. The internal DC link is held at a regulated potential of 670 VDC; should mains voltage rise, the unregulated bus can climb to 715 VDC, so braking choppers or external absorbers must be sized accordingly. Thermal transfer is handled by Air cooling (backplane), where cabinet airflow moves across the rear heat sink fins to extract switching losses and protect neighboring electronics from excessive temperature rise.

At elevated ambient temperatures the drive’s current ceiling decreases linearly; between 45 °C and 55 °C each kelvin of rise triggers a reduction of 1.75 A/K, so panel designers must balance spacing and airflow. Under full regenerative loading the assembly can add up to 700 W of heat to the enclosure, a figure used when sizing exhaust fans or liquid exchangers. With a compact width of 200 mm it fits beside other DMA supplies, and its integrated motion kernel supports One axis positioning without an external controller.
