The HNL05.1R-0117-N0409-N-A4-NNNF is a mains choke produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the HNL Mains Chokes series. In regenerative power modules, this passive component limits line-side current ripple and suppresses high-frequency interference before energy is fed back to the plant supply. By adding series inductance it reduces peak currents drawn by the inverter, protects upstream switching devices, and improves overall power quality in industrial automation lines.

The electrical core is wound to a nominal inductance of 117 µH, which establishes the impedance needed to smooth the DC-bus charging current. During continuous service the winding carries up to 409 A without saturating the magnetic circuit. Heat generated under these conditions is removed through Liquid Cooling; with water flow available, thermal loss is handled at a rate of 2000 W, far higher than the 1200 W that would be dissipated by air alone. The assembly is built to an open-frame IP00 protection level, so it must be mounted inside a closed panel where physical contact and contamination are controlled.

Thermal operating limits align with a maximum ambient of 40 °C; when internal hot-spot temperature reaches 160 °C, a normally-closed sensor opens to signal the drive controller. Panel designers must also account for the unit’s 82 kg mass when selecting support rails and vibration dampers. For auxiliary monitoring, the temperature switch can be wired through contacts rated at 250 V AC, ensuring reliable isolation from low-level control circuits.
