VPB IndraControl PC Units
The VPB40.1G5A-1G0NN-M1C-BN-NN-FW PC box is manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat and belongs to the VPB IndraControl PC Units series. It is a compact control computer that mounts inside an electrical cabinet and provides processor resources, fieldbus access, and storage for machine-level software. When linked to IndraControl operator panels or PLCs, the unit manages visualization, deterministic motion sequences, and real-time data processing required in packaging lines, assembly stations, and other automated equipment.
The PC box carries an enclosure rating of IP20, so it is intended for protected cabinet mounting rather than exposed shop-floor placement. Network communication is handled by a single RJ45 (10/100BASE-T) Ethernet interface that supports standard TCP/IP traffic to PLCs or higher-level SCADA systems. Internally, the motherboard offers 3 x PCI, 1 x PCI/ISA expansion slots, allowing motion cards or additional fieldbus adapters to be inserted without redesigning the cabinet layout. Graphic output is driven by an embedded controller with 8 MB of video memory, adequate for industrial HMI resolutions. During operation the system draws a maximum of 200 W, enabling accurate sizing of cabinet power supplies and thermal management components.
The front panel includes two PS/2 sockets that separate keyboard and mouse inputs, simplifying service when legacy peripherals are required. Two Type A USB ports can supply up to 500 mA each, and the unit provides three RS-232 channels plus a single RS-422 port for point-to-point serial devices. Visual outputs are routed through a 15-pin HD-Sub VGA jack, while a D-Sub 25-pin connector handles the independent display interface; an additional 25-pin parallel port supports printer or I/O adapters. The hard disk sits in a vibration-resistant suspension, and a dedicated external battery input preserves BIOS data during power isolation. Despite the connectivity, the box weighs only 6.1 kg, easing panel layout and rail loading.
