KDV 3.1-100-220/300-220

The KDV 3.1-100-220/300-220 is a regulated supply module manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the KDV Supply Modules series. Designed for multi-axis drive assemblies, the unit converts three-phase mains power into stabilized DC bus energy and provides a 24 V auxiliary rail for control electronics. In industrial automation cabinets, it acts as the common power source by accepting line power, managing regenerative energy from the drives, and supporting protective bleeder circuitry that keeps the shared link voltage within safe limits.

At the input, the module has a nominal line voltage of 3 × 220 VAC and a rated current of 100 A, enabling it to feed several amplifiers simultaneously. When regenerative braking returns energy, the supply can absorb a peak of 48 kW, while its DC link can tolerate a momentary peak current of 160 A for up to 300 ms without tripping. Control circuits are powered by the integrated 24 V source, which supplies 11.5 A continuously with only 2% ripple, providing motion controllers with a stable low-voltage rail. Thermal dissipation is divided between the cabinet and external cooling system, with 150 W released inside the enclosure and the remaining heat routed through the external heat sink and fan assembly.

During extended deceleration cycles, the built-in bleeder drains excess link voltage. It draws no power under steady-state conditions but can discharge up to 40 kW whenever regenerative levels rise. The cabinet exhaust path carries 500 W of additional losses that are removed by a replaceable fan unit weighing 4.2 kg, helping keep semiconductor temperatures within operating limits. Energy returned after mains power is removed can reach 100 kWs, which can be considered when sizing external braking resistors for long vertical axes. The complete supply weighs 21 kg, allowing direct panel mounting without supplementary framing.
