Bosch Rexroth Indramat MKD Synchronous Motors are permanent-magnet AC servo motors used with Rexroth digital intelligent drive controllers for industrial automation and motion-control applications. The MKD series is commonly applied in machine tools, printing and paper-processing equipment, handling systems, automation machinery, packaging machines, and food-processing equipment. These motors use electronic commutation and special magnet materials to reduce rotor inertia, giving the series strong dynamic response and a high torque-to-inertia ratio. Efficient heat transfer from the stator supports high overload capability, while peak torque can be used across a wide speed range for demanding axis movement. The motors are built with a brushless, maintenance-free design, lifetime grease-lubricated bearings, a fully enclosed IP65 housing, and motor temperature monitoring for overload protection. Mechanical integration is supported through a DIN 42948 flange, flexible mounting orientation, and bearing designs that allow direct overhung mounting of pinions or belt pulleys under suitable radial-load conditions. Feedback configurations include resolver feedback for relative positioning or resolver feedback with an integrated multiturn absolute encoder for absolute position detection. Additional options include plain or keyed shafts, selectable connector output directions, and a 24 VDC electrically released holding brake for clamping the axis when power is removed.
