MHD Synchronous Motors

MHD Synchronous Motors are Bosch Rexroth Indramat brushless permanent-magnet servo motors developed for dynamic machine axes controlled by Rexroth digital drive systems. The series combines electronic commutation with a low-maintenance mechanical design that uses lifetime grease-lubricated bearings, making the motors well suited for repeated acceleration, deceleration, and start-stop cycles. A high torque-to-inertia ratio supports rapid axis response, while efficient transfer of stator heat allows substantial overload capability and usable peak torque across a broad speed range. MHD motors are fully enclosed to IP65 and incorporate motor-temperature monitoring for thermal overload protection in demanding industrial environments. Machine-specific configurations are available with DIN-style flange mounting, plain or keyed output shafts, versions suitable for direct pulley or pinion mounting, and optional 24 VDC holding brakes for securing the axis at standstill. Digital servo feedback is integrated into the motor, with configurations available for relative position measurement or multiturn absolute position detection.
